Animals and crops on the Jones ranch in Sunshine. [ca. 1900-1929]

Mostly snapshots of animals and crops on the Jones ranch in Sunshine. Family members are shown on various parts of the property with the animals and in the fields. The ranch had beef cattle, swine, chickens and horses. Horses were used as pack animals, for riding and for farm work. Crops included potatoes, corn and hay.

Forrest Jones' grandparents and father came from Wales and emmigrated to the U.S. in 1867. They first went to Blackhawk, where they worked in the gold mines. After an accident which left him unable to mine, his grandfather moved to Sunshine in 1876 and began ranching.
